Private Practice, which is supposedly the “most watched” new show of the season, will be sticking around for the entire season… not that it is much of a shocker! It would have had to finish last each week for ABC not to renew this Grey’s Anatomy spinoff!

New special From Grey’s Anatomy to Private Practice

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

ABC has planned a new one hour special to attempt to hook in the Grey’s Anatomy fans into the ill-received spinoff series Private Practice, and is airing it in the Wednesday time slot being given to Private Practice.

The special is called “Come Rain or Come Shine: From Grey’s Anatomy to Private Practice” and will air at 9pm on Wednesday September 19th. I don’t know, but I think I would have called it something a bit more, um, different. And no word yet on what the special will be, exactly, but we will keep you posted!

Role of Naomi being recast on Private Practice

Monday, August 27th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Yet another role on Private Practice is being recast. First it was the character of Naomi being recast when Audra McDonald took over the role from merrin Dungey. And now the role of Naomi’s daughter, Maya, which was played by Shavon Kirksey, is being recast according to Ausiello.

Not sure how this will affect current episodes, since they have been filming, or perhaps Maya played a limited role in those episodes that her scenes could be easily refilmed.

But man, you sure have to wonder what is going on at Private Practice… it is sounding less and less likely that it will be the hit that Shonda, Kate Walsh, and ABC were hoping for.

Audra McDonald replaces Merrin Dungey on Private Practice

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Private Practice is doing some of that tweaking we knew they would. And Merrin Dungey, who played Addison’s best friend Merrin Dungey, has been replaced by Audra McDonald.

I think this is a good decision, personally I thought Kate Walsh and Merrin Dungey just didn’t have any kind of chemistry whatsoever, even that one would expect to see as best friends. And to boot, she didn’t even seem to have chemisty with Taye Diggs, who played her ex husband. And come on, how many people canNOT have chemistry with him! It was one of the main reasons I was disappointed in it.

Wonder if there will be any other major shakeups.

Private Practice to be overhauled for its first season

Thursday, May 17th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Looks like Shonda is listening to fan’s gripes about the new Grey’s Anatomy spinoff Private Practice, and will be making some changes for its first season.

Private Practice Will Be Tweaked a Bit: More story. More drama. Less character introduction now that we’re moving past the pilot. McPherson points out that while Grey’s is about young, up-and-coming surgeons finding their way, this show is about established docs who already have deep relationships and connections. “We are not trying to imitate Grey’s.”

Maybe this will help fans give it a second chance when it airs this fall.

Grey’s Anatomy spinoff Private Practice picked up for fall schedule

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Well, much to the chagrin of many fans, the Kate Walsh led Grey’s Anatomy spinoff Private Practice has been picked up by ABC for the fall schedule. But in a curious move, instead of airing it following Grey’s Anatomy to ensure that fans watch at least the first few episodes to get hooked, they have given it a Wednesday time slot.

ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” spinoff will air next fall on an all-new Wednesday night schedule, one of 11 new series the network plans for next season.

“Private Practice” features Dr. Addison Shepard, who leaves Seattle for work in Los Angeles. A special “Grey’s Anatomy” that effectively served as the show’s pilot was seen by 21 million people earlier this month.

Veteran TV actors Merrin Dungey, Tim Daly, Taye Diggs and Amy Brenneman will join star Kate Walsh in “Private Practice,” which will air at 9 p.m.

I’m still not impressed, I wanted the Alex-Addison hookup to work itself out!

Leaked Grey’s Anatomy spin-off plot details

Friday, March 23rd, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

We all saw what would be the end result of Addison’s and McSteamy’s bet that he couldn’t not sleep with anyone else for a couple of months. While he might be able to pull it off, Addison comes to the realization (again!) that Sloan just isn’t Daddy material… which results in her trip to Los Angeles for the Grey’s Anatomy potential spin-off episode. And fortunately for us, Ausiello has some brand new scoop for us.

Lucky for you, I just received a fresh batch of intel regarding the enhanced two-hour May-sweeps episode of Grey’s Anatomy with a potential for afterlife (aka the spin-off). According to multiple unnamed spies who (lucky for us) can’t keep their traps shut, Addison comes to the conclusion that (Spoiler alert) McSteamy is about a decade away from becoming father material, and hightails it to Los Angeles to meet with one of the world’s foremost fertility experts. Mrs. Egg Harvester is also one of Addison’s BFFs and the owner of a state-of-the-art wellness center, which just so happens to be looking for a neonatal specialist. I think you can figure out the rest.

OK, I admit the spin-off plot is sounding slightly better, but I am still hoping Addison doesn’t leave Seattle Grace.

Tim Daly is the next, um, McDreamy on Grey’s Anatomy spinoff?

Thursday, March 8th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

So the Grey’s Anatomy / Addison spinoff already has Taye Diggs associated with it, whom I assumed would be playing the lead to Kate Walsh’s Addison. Now comes word that Tim Daly, of all people, is tapped to be the spinoff’s McDreamy character. Tim Daly?!?!?

The story line for the two-hour episode, being written by “Grey’s” creator/executive producer Shonda Rhimes, is being kept under wraps, but it is understood that it will feature popular “Grey’s” character Addison Montgomery-Shepherd (Walsh) on the verge of leaving Seattle Grace, a scenario that will be triggered if ABC goes with the spinoff for next season.

Details on the characters in the potential spinoff also are being kept secret, but according to the breakdown, Daly’s character is described as “handsome, sincere, like a McDreamy.”

Oh my. Nothing against Tim, but McDreamy shoes are pretty big to fill by anyone but, yes, Patrick Dempsey. But it will be interesting to see how this will all end up.

More details on Grey’s Anatomy spinoff including Taye Diggs signing on

More details are emerging about the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off starring Kate Walsh and her character Addison.

First off, if the pilot doesn’t fly, she won’t be leaving the show. It will be set in a way that if the pilot is picked up, she could leave Grey’s Anatomy, but if not, she’ll be sticking around Seattle Grace.

Taye Diggs, of the cancelled Day Break series from this season, will play opposite Addison.

The potential spinoff will test the waters as a back-door pilot, an expanded two-hour episode of “Grey” slated to air in May. It will center on neonatal surgeon Addison Shepherd (Walsh), a character that has enjoyed a strong following from fans since she was introduced at the end of the hot surgical drama’s first season.

It is understood that the back-door pilot episode will feature Shepherd on the verge of leaving Seattle Grace, a scenario that will be triggered if ABC goes with the spinoff for next season. There were no details on the character Diggs will play.

“Grey” creator/executive producer Shonda Rhimes is writing the episode and is expected to shepherd the potential series. Meanwhile, Rhimes’ other pilot for ABC and ABC TV Studio, about female journalists, has been pushed to a summer production start.

I admit, I am happy to hear that even if the pilot fails to take off that it means Kate will be sticking around. I hate it when a popular character gets spun off, the new show tanks, but they don’t return back to the other series.

Grey’s Anatomy to spin-off Kate Walsh series

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

OK, I admit, I was pretty shocked. But Grey’s Anatomy’s Kate Walsh will be leaving the show for her own pilot… but with the same Dr. Addison Montgomery-Shepherd character.

I am not sure how I feel about Addison leaving the show. Sure, we all used to love to hate her, but I can’t imagine Grey’s Anatomy without her. And what about her and Alex? Would he leave too? And would that mean that Alex and Izzie would never get back together in the end, which I expected them to do after the touching scene following Denny’s death? Argh~

Walt Disney Co.’s television network ABC has decided to pursue a spinoff of its popular medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy,” the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.

It will star Dr. Addison Montgomery-Shepherd, the sexy neonatal surgeon played by Kate Walsh, the paper said.

A two-hour pilot of the show, which could add millions in additional advertising revenue, is likely to air in May, the paper said.

I’ll keep you posted as more details come out.
